So hello there, as You might have noticed from the last posting, the times when my blog was about discovering new places and making comments on some cool pictures is over…

My experience in Ghana looks like will be mostly focused on work, gaining new experiences and instead of coping with huge cultural differences on the street (Pakistan trained me well) I will have to cope with different approaches to work (commercial company, not AIESEC, Ghana, different motivations of people, work style)…

And so if You want to read about my first proper working day… feel free to click below

Yesterday I have been awake till 2 am preparing materials for interview that happened today, lets say it was a “crash course in improvisation of recruitment”, if I didnt have experience with “creative approaches to work” (saving the day using any means possible) in AIESEC I guess today would be a pretty bad day But I somehow managed and the interviews have been going on since morning till evening… Hod did I manage? Google, copy paste, AIESEC experience and improvisation – result? Competency based interviews for 4 different position in a bank.

Was funny, I – 25 years old, interviewing guys of 29+ for jobs that pay 2 to 4 times more than mine currently And that was just a beginning, looking forward to do interiew of a 40 years old VP

And because You read that whole thing, I have a small “present” to You. Its the first of my “managerial revelations”, i.e. observations that can help You out…

The managed one will always do his work in last moment or even fail to deliver on time because he has the unending belief that the manager will tell him that he cant manage it or that he has to start right now in order to finish on time. Why? Because the manager to know the job better, right?! So if the manager doesnt panic than everything is fine and the job can be done on time…

In fact the manager thinks: “He says he can do it, OK, let him do it. I think he needs more time but I am not here to spoon feed him. Let this be a ‘challenge’ for him. He has to learn responsibility for own actions. ” And of course if the person fails the manager will get pissed of.

I guess You get my point… But the thing managers mostly forget is that its the responsibility of the person who delegates a task to make sure that the task is done…
